New Demonstrator – Corryvreckan

The new Corryvreckan is the latest Redbay 11 metre – Hull no. 61 replaces our previous 11m 2005 Hull no 20.

Over the five years, we have seen the demand for cruising 11 increasing to the extent that we decided it was time to redesign and make internal mouldings.

Most 11’s either for commercial or pleasure application need a toilet and some form of cooking facilities, with this in mind we designed and moulded a toilet/shower unit, a cooker unit with space for a sink, microwave and fridge units.

We raised the rear height of the cabin to add extra overhead storage and create a more airy cabin. Forward we redesigned the entire console creating longer angled mounting surfaces for navigational equipment with the centre panel capable of holding up to a 15” plotter within easy reach of the helmsman. A new throttle mount runs beside the helmsman side with mounting surfaces for switch panels/trim tab switch etc. The helm position is now extended back towards the seat and both navigator and helmsman get moulded drop foot wells, the navigator gets a chart area with a substande grab handle. The complete bow berth area is now moulded as part of the console. This allows us to fit the berth/console mould before the cabin and hull mould is banded. Overall the moulding raises the internal finish and allows us to standardize the boats.

So the spec of ‘Corryvreckan’ is as follows: 11 metre Explorer cabin, fully decked with raised back deck storage/breather boxes. We have added a shelter-deck to shelter the door, which is supported off the 2” A frame. Internally we have the moulded toilet/shower to port with hot water, Cooker unit to starboard in the cooker unit we have a Wallis diesel 2 hob cooker, which doubles as a heater, a sink unit, a 240 volt microwave, an 1800 watt inverter and storage units over-head, we have a storage unit with a teak storage rack. Forward from this we have two bench seats with storage lockers underneath, next we have four KAB air suspension seats, with the back two on 180o swivels all with air lumber/back supports and a leather finish.

The back benches have infills which form a large double berth across the cabin: forward a bow infill add a further 2 berths. The cabin sides are finished in a grey carpet with a teak/holly floor. The console holds three navigation screens a E120 Raymarine touch screen, a Garmin 7015 touch screen, a 5012 Garmin touch screen, as on the Raymarine with Depth on the Garmin and Radar on both. Two VHF Radars, Garmin/Raymarine with Cobra handheld the Yamaha clocks are arranged around the centre plotter with all the switch panels under the starboard mounted Yamaha controls. With the Leco trim tab controls mounted beside the controls. The engines are Yamaha ME432 285hp driving twin props, top speed 39 knots with comfortable 27 knot cruising at this speed our fuel burn is 2.2 litres per mile, twin 100 gallon fuel tanks gives us a decent range.

On deck we have all the stainless steel powdered coated black with safety chains on all openings.

Corryvreckan is coded for 10 persons and carries an array of safety equipment including a
liferaft.

Corryvreckan is available for demo 7 days per week.
