Halcyon, New Expedition Canopy Version

Customer Rick James has just taken delivery of his new Redbay Stormforce 8.4 RIB. The RIB is the first of a new canopy design 8.4, based on the Expedition design launched last year. The new canopy boat features the same hull and deck moulding as the Expedition, but has a Lexan Wrap Around screen and removable canopy. The canopy version retains the same excellent safety and comfort values, but has the flexibility of open-air cruising when the weather permits, along with full protection when it doesn't.

The starting point for the new boat again came from in-house generated renders of the concept, using the same 3D model as the Expedition. This helped Redbay develop the shape and design that both our customers and ourselves wanted. The fabrication of the new design was then very easy using the model.

Being based on the same mouldings as the Expedition, Halcyon has retained many of the same features, including a double berth in the bow. Halcyon also has the hard nose coloured to match the tubes. The internal configuration features two KAB suspension seats, 2 POD seats, and the integral seating at the aft of the cabin has also been retained.

Powered by the new generation Yamaha ME422 sterndrive, Halcyon also has the following equipment:

• Raymarine Multifunctional Plotter
• Navman Fishfinder
• Icom VHF DSC Radio
• Two KAB suspension seats
