The
Spirit of Adrian - Redbay Stormforce 6.1 Jet

Spirit of Adrian
Foyle
Search and Rescue, a charity organisation based in Derry City, Northern
Ireland, recently took delivery of their new Stormforce 6.1 Jet
RIB. The sole aim of the organisation is life preservation in and
around the dangerous River Foyle. Foyle Search and Rescue was set
up in June 1993 as a compassionate response to the alarming number
of deaths both by suicide and by accident in and around the River
Foyle, its banks and the Two large bridges which lie over the city.
The RIB entered service immediately, complimenting their existing
Stormforce 6.5 Jet RIB, allowing the organisation to provide even
greater coverage.

The
existing 6.5 RIB has proven very successful for the crew in the
shallow, sheltered waters of the Foyle. Consequently, the organisation
felt a Jet was the logical propulsor for the new RIB. The RIB has
been fitted with the Hamilton HJ213 waterjet unit, coupled to a
Steyr MO174 Turbo Diesel unit (165hp), via a ZF45A gearbox. The
Steyr engines are very lightweight and well constructed mono-block
units.
Fit out includes:
- Raymarine
GPS Plotter
- ICOM VHF
DSC Radio
- Search Lights
- A-Frame with
Jet Protection Bar
- Compass
