Stormforce
11 Developments

2003 has been an exciting
year to date for Redbay as we have been busy building and developing
the already successful 11 metre model for a number of commercial
and pleasure customers.
The first launch in May
was for Irish Sea Cruises of Ardglass. The boat was an 11 metre
cabin boat powered by 2 x 240 hp Yamaha's sterndrives with seating
for 12. The Boat will operate mainly between Ardglass and the Isle
of Man, but will also be available for special charter around the
West Coast of Scotland.
In July the Second 11
metre was launched for a private customer, this boat again was a
development of the cabin design but it had been specially adapted
for wheelchair use. The boat had wheelchair access integrated into
the design with Folding Ramps and a Scissor Lift bringing the wheel
chair easily to deck level. Once in the cockpit the wheelchair user
could move freely around the vessel through the Sliding Door on
the bulkhead and into the main cabin area, which also had wheelchair
anchors mounted on the floor. The boat was fitted with 4 x KAB suspension
seats and 4 standard seats providing comfortable seating for all
crew and it also had 2 berths forward of the main console. Power
is provided again by twin 240 hp Yamaha's pushing the boat effortleslsy
to a max speed of 37 knots. The boat has a full compliment of Navigation
equipment including the hugely popular 10" Raymarine Combination
Radar/Chartplotter, Navtex, DSC and the ST5000 Autopilot.
Next to be delivered
was a development of the 11 metre Console/Canopy Boat. Instead of
the Conventional Stern Drive package this boat had been fitted with
twin 350 hp Yanmar's coupled to 241 Hamilton Jets. This was the
first Redbay 11 metre to be fitted with Jet Drives, and the resulting
package was superb. Once run-in is completed it is estimated that
the boat will do at least 45 knots, and the maneuverability as with
all twin jet installations is excellent especially at close quarters.
This boat was also fitted with an extensive array of Electronics
which included 3 x 10" Raymarine Colour screens displaying Chartplotting,
Radar and a Fishfinder. Aslo on board were Navtex and a Simrad AP20
Pilot.
