Redbay Boats have just completed a Foyle Class RIB for the Irish Coast Guard

The RIB is intended to be used as a relief boat and will be based in Dublin, and has also been licensed for a P6 commercial license for operation in Republic of Ireland waters. The RIB has successfully passed the surveys and sea trails.

 

Layout

The RIB is based around the standard 4 seater open console, with a large stern storage box aft that can double as extra seating.

Propulsion

The RIB is powered by twin Yamaha 115 hp 4-Stroke outboards. During sea trials with 6 persons on board, the RIB was able to reach speeds of 22 knots on one outboard and a top speed of 36 knots. The RIB is fitted with cross-over valves to allow a fuel tank to be shut off should it suffer from contaminated fuel.

 

Safety Equipment

A self-righting system has been fitted to the A-Frame, allowing the crew to right her should a capsize ever occur. Also fitted is a towing bollard unit, with integral rope reel and tool box. This is bolted directly to the internal structure of the hull.

  • Furuno FA150 Universal AIS (Automatic Identification System) Transponder
  • Garmin 188C GPS/Sounder
  • Simrad RD68 VHF DSC Radio
  • Gecko Intercom system & crew safety head gear
